Agnontas is the epitome of the classical Greek fishing village, it lies around 8km from the main town
and took it’s name from our very own Olympic running Champion of the ancient Olympic Games, upon his victorious return from Olympia in 569AD his ship reached this port. To honour him the locals gave his name to this area and produced a silver coin in commemoration.

Today Agnontas offers one of the islands most stunning locations were the dense pine forest’s meet the deep blue sea, a true testament to the island’s Green and Blue status.

A monument made of local stone and bronze was added some year’s ago to commemorate his achievements and to this day ships still sail here during poor weather conditions.
